Day 31 God In Us

God In Us

I began this year with a strong consciousness of the Holy Spirit in me. Early into any day I found myself thinking about the Holy Spirit. It was a little like the initial days of marriage. Here is someone you really love with you almost every moment of the day. There’s no one else you would rather be with. Being separated even for a little while is difficult. That’s what it was like.

And while the in-between part of the year saw that constant Spirit consciousness dwindle, I’ve noticed this last part of the year is again like it was at the start. I’m very conscious of the Holy Spirit’s presence within.

While praying with a patient up at the hospital through the week, I couldn’t escape the thought that the same Spirit was in them too. It made praying for their healing easier and kept me far more open to anything the Holy Spirit wanted to say or do.

John wrote ‘And this is how we know that he lives in us: we know it by the Spirit he gave us’ (1 John 3:24). I’m sure John enjoyed a wonderful fellowship with the Spirit – a fellowship that went far beyond an intellectual knowledge that the Holy Spirit indwelt him. The Holy Spirit is a Person and not a “thing.”

God lives in us. How? Through the precious and lovely Holy Spirit. Get acquainted with Him. Your life might change forever.
