Day 14 Revival Prayer

Revival Prayer

Rees Howells was a prince among praying men. God leads us all differently but we can learn and be inspired by how God fashions and prepares men and women He will work powerfully through.

Having been dramatically touched and used by God through the Welsh revival, Rees’ heart longed for more. A new burden began to emerge for South Africa. He had to separate from his wife Elizabeth for a year to do a medical course in London, while she pursued further studies in Scotland. In 1915 they set sailed for their new mission field – South Africa.

They found the African Christians hungry to hear news of the Welsh revival, and longing to see the same power manifested through them. Rees constantly preached that the source of revival was the Holy Spirit, and that He came powerfully when Christians repented and travailed in prayer.

After many months there was a breakthrough. A young girl under deep conviction in a meeting began to pray and cry. In Rees Howell’s own words “Within five minutes the whole congregation went on their knees crying to God. Like lightning and thunder the power came down. I have never seen this – even in the Welsh revival. Heaven was opened …”

In your praying, never settle for less than revival. Pray for the heavens to be opened. God seems to always have had a group of fervent, praying people before He has brought visitation. Ask God to give you a praying heart.
