Day 13 Our Faith – God’s Work

Our Faith – God’s Work

God always grows us little by little, and Rees Howells was no exception. He felt God challenging him to pray for a local alcoholic with mental health issues, Will Battery, right through to salvation and wholeness. “It wouldn’t have come to my mind to love him but when the Holy Ghost comes in, He brings the love of the Saviour. It seemed as if I would lay down my life for this man” he later wrote. It took three years of prayer and selfless giving before Will Battery was converted and fully rehabilitated.

Rees found himself the leader of a group of young Christians with a great burden for a neighbouring village completely untouched by the revival. He was learning to not only pray sacrificially but to give sacrificially. The whole village was opened to the young band of believers through their generous giving to the needs of the villagers. Rees led the way. The first person he witnessed to burnt much of her cooking while the two talked. He generously covered the cost of the meal and much more.

Another time God told Rees that his invalid uncle would be healed on a particular day, four and a half months away. This was an enormous test for the apprentice intercessor because in a similar situation earlier, the man Rees was believing for had died from TB. This time, on the very day, the power of God restored his uncle completely. Other healings followed, many involving considerable testing and bringing Rees into contact with contagious and normally fatal diseases.

We will not grow in ministry without testing. There will always be some who take leaps of faith, but for most, fear of failure will hold you back. Our part is to take the step of faith. God’s part is to perform the miracle.
