Trust in Jesus
In my teenage years I was a consistently in church – but was not a Christian. The problem was: I didn’t know I wasn’t a Christian.
If anyone had asked me what I needed to do to make it to heaven, I would have answered “Go to church and live a reasonable life.”
How can you be in church all those years and never understand the gospel? I knew about Jesus but could never see where He fitted in. If all I had to do to get into heaven was left in my hands, then I didn’t need any help – from Jesus or anyone else.
Millions of people around the world think today like I thought then. What’s wrong with thinking like this anyway? Won’t it make me better than someone who wants nothing to do with God?
This thinking doesn’t get a single person into heaven.
This thinking sends people to hell where they are cut off from God eternally.
This thinking completely rejects God’s Son, Jesus Christ, who not only left heaven to become a man, but went to the cross because He had taken all our sins onto Himself. He not only carried our sins but He took the terrible judgement of God against those sins that we deserved. Jesus died in our place. He died the death we deserved.
The only people in heaven will be those who have placed all their trust and hope in Jesus. Will you be amongst them?
