Day 23 Go God’s Way

Go God’s Way

Oh that they had such a heart in them, that they would fear Me and keep My commandments always, that it may go well with them and with their sons forever’ (Deuteronomy 5:29)

Following God in this life can feel like swimming upstream when all the water is flowing the other way. We all face times when it would be so much easier just to stop trying, stop swimming, and let the current take us where it might.

God’s way is not the world’s way. The two stand diametrically opposed. And we too often miss the truth that God’s way is for our good – ‘that it may go well with them.’ The same thought is repeated just verses later ‘You shall walk in all the way which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you will possess’ (v.33). Even the command to honour our parents is so that ‘your days may be prolonged and that it may go well with you in the land which the Lord your God gives you’ (v.16). We think it’s all for God’s good but He keeps saying it’s for our good.

So the next time you find it hard to do what God wants and the temptation is to go the world’s way, just remember – God’s way is for your good.
