Day 16 Known as Thankful

Known as Thankful

Are you known as a thankful person? I didn’t ask you if you think you are a thankful person, but if you’re known as a thankful person. There’s a big difference, isn’t there?

The more we think of ourselves as being unworthily blessed, the more likely we are to be thankful.

So there are two parts to this. First we see ourselves as unworthy; secondly, we see ourselves as blessed.

Dwelling on God’s supreme and holy character and our imperfections as seen in His light whittles us down to our rightful place before Him. We’re not worthy of any good thing from God. In fact if God gave us what we deserved, we’d be in desperate trouble; we’d be completely lost.

But God has reached down and despite everything we deserve, has lifted us out of our mess, washed us, forgiven us and set us on the highest place of blessing. Nothing in us merited any of this. God did it all in grace. To the very worst, He gave His very best.

Living each day in this knowledge makes us feel unworthily blessed. So we come back to where we started. Are you known as a thankful person? Do you see yourself as unworthy? Do you see yourself as blessed? Now put them together. See yourself as being unworthily blessed. You’ll soon be known as a thankful person.
