Day 27 Not Really?

Not Really?

A Religious Education teacher was asking his upper Primary class “Who knocked down the walls of Jericho?” No one answered so he repeated himself a little louder “Come on, who knocked down the walls of Jericho?” Finally a short, bespectacled boy in the front row put up his hand “Please sir, I don’t know but I didn’t do it.”

At recess the R.E. teacher was having morning tea with the school Principal. He was still chuckling to himself about the incident a little earlier and told the Principal how he’d asked the question and how the Jones boy had answered. The Principal took his glasses off and very seriously answered. “I know the Jones’ and they’re a good family. If the son said he didn’t do it then I’d take his word on it.” The R.E. teacher didn’t know what to say.

A District Inspector was at the school that day and the R.E. teacher was invited to meet him. To make conversation the morning story was repeated. The Inspector looked quite concerned. “We’ll probably never find out who was responsible but if you can get two quotes to have it fixed, submit them to the office and we’ll soon have it looking as good as new.”

The world has little idea about what the Bible teaches. It’s our responsibility to know what it says and then live a life that makes Christianity attractive to others.

Become familiar with the Bible. Learn its central truths and then let those truths change you from the inside out.
