Day 31 Childishness

Childishness

Herman Goering was head of the German Luftwaffe (air force) during World War 2. He was captured, along with a number of other senior Nazis, and put on trial at Nuremburg.

True to character Goering was flamboyant and rude to the Allied legal staff. He refused to acknowledge his responsibility and constantly questioned the right of the court to try him.

One day Goering was visited by his daughter. She had become a Christian. She pleaded with her father to turn to Christ. He was the kind of man who bowed to no one and laughed off his daughter’s conversion. Pride wouldn’t allow him to turn to anyone for help, especially this Jesus. He ridiculed his daughter for believing Jesus’ “fairy tale” message.

A few hours later he pulled out a cyanide pill smuggled into his cell. Death came swiftly. When they opened his prison door to check on him, Goering was dead.

Who do you think was the child-like one, and who do you think was the childish one?
