Day 25 Chuck Colson

Chuck Colson

“I know the resurrection is a fact, and Watergate proved it to me. How? Because 12 men testified they had seen Jesus raised from the dead; then they proclaimed that truth for 40 years, never once denying it. Every one was beaten, tortured, stoned and put in prison. They would not have endured that if it weren’t true. Watergate embroiled 12 of the most powerful men in the world – and they couldn’t keep a lie for three weeks. You’re telling me 12 apostles could keep a lie for 40 years? Absolutely impossible.”
Chuck Colson
Chuck Colson was President Richard Nixon’s “hatchet man” and was the first member of Nixon’s administration to be jailed for Watergate–related charges.
Just before his imprisonment, one of his political enemies led him to Christ. He never looked back. Once out of prison he began Prison Fellowship and committed the rest of his life to teaching others what a Christian worldview looks like.
In a very real sense, Good Friday guarantees our past is dealt with, but Easter Sunday guarantees our future.
If Jesus was not raised from the dead, we have no certainty that.

§He really was the Son of God

§everything He said was true

§His death meant our sin really is forgiven

§He is now Lord and King over all creation

§heaven awaits us after death

§there will be a new heaven and earth

If Jesus was raised from the dead, all of these are true.
