Day 24 Time Management

Time Management

Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15,16

There are two extremes in how you use your time.

Up one end are those who keep a close record of what happens in every part of their day.

At the other end are those who really don’t care where their time goes. They see no need to keep track of it.

The apostle Paul made his life count. He had a very strong sense of accountability to Jesus for how he lived. ‘For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad’ (2 Corinthians 5:10).

Do you want to leave this world a better place than how you found it? I hope you do and I think this should be in the heart of every Christian.

What affects your ability to leave a legacy that outlives you?

(1) your calling – what God’s design for your life looks like

(2) your giftings – how God has enabled you to fulfil your calling

(3) your stage in life – whether you’re single, married, raising children, studying, working, not employed, retired

(4) your ability to set goals – what you want to achieve can most times be reflected in measurable goals

(5) your ability to stay focused – a secret of success is constancy of purpose

(6) your discipline – whether you can carefully structure your time and be ruthless with distractions

(7) your willingness to sacrifice – self-centredness is the constant enemy of godly success

(8) your desire for God’s glory in your life – this, more than anything else, can keep you rightly motivated.
