Our God Speaks
For nothing is impossible with God Luke 1:37
Many of us recognise these as the angel’s words to Mary. She has just been told that she’s to be the mother of the son of God.
The word ‘nothing’ is literally ‘no rhema.’ Rhema is a word used much through the New Testament of a spoken word. In context here the rhema is God’s word to Mary. The angel is saying to Mary: ‘No message from God to you is impossible.’
Our God speaks. Being able to speak makes Him different from every other so-called ‘god.’
God speaks purposefully. His words are powerful. He created our world through words. So when He spoke here to Mary, His added promise through the angel was ‘My word to you will be fulfilled, no matter how hard it seems in the natural.’ No message from God is impossible to bring to pass.
If God has given you promises, the same is true of those promises. Our faithful obedience is always an implied condition with God’s promises. If we stand in faith and obedience (trust and obey) we can expect to see God do what He said He would do.
