Day 25 Your Security

Your Security

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf   Hebrews 6:19,20

A good anchor makes a ship virtually immovable. With one end firmly in the seabed and the other end firmly fixed to the boat, changing conditions above water might be turbulent, but the boat stays firm.

Only in the writer’s thinking, one end is firmly attached to us and the other end is in the presence of God!

Once a year under the old covenant, the high priest went in behind the last curtain into the innermost sanctuary of the temple, the holy of holies. There, on what they believed was the holiest spot on earth, the place where you were as close to God as possible, the high priest would make atonement for the nation.

Jesus has gone in, not to the earthly temple, but into the heavenly sanctuary, right into the innermost courts, into God’s very presence. He has gone there for us.

Like an anchor firmly embedded in the sea floor, our Saviour has come before the Father. That anchor stretches all the way back to us here on earth. No winds, tides or storms can loosen the anchor’s hold. It stands ‘firm and secure’ (6:19).
