Day 3 Hang On!

Hang On!

‘Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we don’t give up’ Galatians 6:9

Over time we are becoming more and more impatient.

Hearing stories of people who would wait six weeks for a letter from England leaves us incredulous. We get upset if our computer seems a little slower than usual or we can’t immediately get through to someone on the phone.

The pilot of a transport plane, in flight, went to the back of the aircraft to check on the reason for a warning light coming on. The problem was a door that hadn’t properly closed. But as he tried to push it, the door flew open and he was sucked out.

The co-pilot could see by his panel that the door had opened and that the pilot was lost. He immediately radioed for a search helicopter to find the body and landed the plane at the nearest airport 15 minutes away. As he got out he was astonished to find the pilot, hanging upside down on a flimsy canvas ladder that was attached at one end just inside where the door had opened up. The pilot had miraculously grabbed the canvas ladder as he was sucked out, and in freezing temperatures, held on upside down for 15 minutes. When the plane landed, his head was barely 15 cms from the tarmac. His hands had to be prised free from the ladder.

The harvest will be reaped by men and women who have learnt to hang on when everyone else has given up. Don’t throw in the towel. You’re closer than you think.
