Day 21 An Alive Organisation

An Alive Organisation

Someone walked up to a pastor and sarcastically asked him “What’s it like to belong to a dying organisation?” With a twinkle in his eye the pastor replied “I don’t know. I’ve never belonged to one.”

The Western world’s perception is that the church is dying. Is this a right perception?

Born again Christians make up roughly one-tenth of the world’s population. If the world’s population is 7.1 billion or 7,100,000,000 people, one tenth of this figure is 710,000,000. This is how many true Christians are on earth right now.

Evangelical Christianity grows by 4.7% each year. 4.7% of 710,000,000 is 33,170,000. So each year there are 33 million more Christians on earth than there were the year before.

If there are 33,170,000 added each year, that means 2,764,166 are added each month and 637,884 each week. Every day 91,126 people become true followers of Jesus. That’s 3,796 every hour, 63 every minute, just over one every second.

What’s it like to belong to a dying organisation? I don’t know. I’m a Christian.
