Living With Jesus as Lord
‘Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ …’ Philippians 1:27.
Christians don’t believe that Jesus will one day be Lord. They know Him to be the one true Lord now. This is what puts us out of step with the world. It did in Paul’s day and it does in ours.
In a land and in a time when the common gospel was ‘Caesar is lord’ the gospel of Christ was utterly radical. Claiming there was another lord worthy of every man, woman and child bowing before, who alone had the right to the world’s allegiance and whose authority vastly outshone Caesar’s, was blasphemy and treason.
Living in a way that was worthy of such a Lord was an extraordinary ask; but this is exactly what Paul is putting to the Philippians and it is exactly what the Holy Spirit puts to every believer in Jesus today.
Will you live a life that honours the eternal Son of God who loved you and gave His life for you? Will you allow the Holy Spirit to lift your lifestyle so it honours Christ? Will you live in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ?
