Day 13 Be Prepared

Be Prepared

We evacuated our home the day before the flood hit in January 2011. The media were warning of the probable coming disaster. That morning I was struck how both the daily New Testament reading and a daily devotional book I was reading both emphasised the need to bring souls to Christ.

The heart of the Bible, both in the New and Old Testament, is for humanity to be prepared for God’s Kingdom. But as Jesus said in John 3:3 “unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Until we experience a new spiritual birth, we’re blind to God’s purposes and we’re blind to His kingdom. Coming to Christ is not God’s final goal for us but we’ll never know God without this first step.

Our first great need is to be right with God. Faith in Christ as the sacrifice for our sins brings us back to God as a restored and forgiven people. But then He wants us to understand His Kingship of this entire universe, and that we’ve been made citizens in His Kingdom. We can experience the Kingdom’s extraordinary privileges and blessings and have a unique opportunity to fulfil our responsibilities as a Kingdom community.
