Christmas – God Cares
I was recently talking with a Bible College student about Christmas. She told me how her family sees Christmas as a pagan festival and so play no part in it.
Is the real meaning of Christmas worth fighting for?
Jesus’ birth still separates time into two parts – even if we’ve dispensed with BC and AD and now have BCE (before the common era) and CE (the common era).
Jesus has always been and will always be. There was never a time when He didn’t exist and there will never be a time when He no longer exists.
When Jesus became a little baby, God was putting an amazing plan into action. His plan was to make a way to bring a world that had rejected Him back into His presence. But the plan required that God Himself take the punishment due every human being for their rebellion. The punishment could only be taken by a true human being but the human being had to be spiritually perfect. No such person had ever existed so God became the human being. Jesus was born as a human baby – completely God but completely human. Christmas celebrates His human birth.
Does God care about this earth? He absolutely does and the real meaning of Christmas proves it. God loved the people of this earth so much that He became one of them, and then died for them, to bring them one day back to Himself.
