Day 10 People of Rank

People of Rank

There’s a story told about Napoleon’s horse running off when everyone thought it was tied up. An alert private jumped on his own horse and rode until he could retrieve the runaway. When he presented the reins back to Napoleon, the ruler took them, smiled at the willing private and said, “Thank you, Captain.”

The soldier’s eyes widened at what he had just heard. He straightened, saluted and snapped back “Thank you, sir.”

He immediately went to the barracks, got his bags and moved into the officer’s quarters. Next he went to the quartermaster to exchange his uniform for a captain’s uniform.

By the word of a General this private became a Captain. He didn’t argue. He didn’t doubt. He knew the one with the power to make such a declaration had done it.

If only we would do the same. If only we could take the word of our General that we’re not privates in His army. We’re people of rank. We’re people of value.

The Commander-in-Chief has spoken. Find out from your New Testament what He says about you. Salute Him. Thank Him and live like someone who has just received an amazing gift from your Commander.
