Day 7 Christ’s Rightful Place

Christ’s Rightful Place

Lift up your heads, O you gates;

be lifted up, you ancient doors,

that the King of glory may come in.

Who is he, this King of glory?

The Lord Almighty –

He is the King of glory.

Psalm 24:9,10

David is no doubt remembering times when the city turned out in splendour to welcome him back. And if they gave him such an enormous homecoming, what would they do for the King of Glory?

Because the city leaders would ordinarily gather at the city gates each day to make decisions for the city, David’s call for the gates to “lift up your heads” is a call for every one of importance and position to play their part in welcoming the King.

How prepared are we to let the King of kings take His rightful place in our hearts? Are we lifting the doors? Are we emphatic or reticent?

So what right does Christ have to rule our hearts?

§He’s the Creator who not only made this world but gave us the opportunity to live in it (Colossians 1:16)

§He’s the Saviour who in love, suffered and died in our place, bearing our sin, that we would not have to be punished (Romans 5:8)

§He’s the reconciler who paid the price to bring us back into relationship and fellowship with the Father (1 Peter 3:18)

§He’s the victor in the ultimate battle with the devil for right of rulership over God’s true people (Hebrews 2:14,15)

§He’s the rightful ruler and Lord over our lives (Philippians 2:9-11)

Let the King of Glory in!
