Day 2 Jesus is Lord

Jesus is Lord

The heart of the early Christian confession was the Lordship of Christ. Salvation comes by confessing Jesus as Lord. ‘… if you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved’ (Romans 10:9). This confession can only be made by the enabling of the Holy Spirit. ‘… no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except by the Holy Spirit’ (1 Corinthians 12:3).

The heart of the early church’s preaching was the proclamation of the Lordship of Jesus. ‘For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake’ (2 Corinthians 4:5).
Christians are those who have received Christ Jesus as Lord. ‘So then just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him’ (Colossians 2:6).
God has raised Jesus above every other power and authority and has exalted Him above every other so-called lord. ’For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth … yet for us there is but one God , the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live, and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live’ (1 Corinthians 8:5,6).
God has bestowed upon His Son the name ‘Lord’ before which every knee must finally bow in obedience and submission ‘Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow … and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord’ (Philippians 2:9-11).
